  • This train is the first transcontinental service in Canada, and representative of the "Victorian Era" of the later 19th century.


  • These cars are the first generation lightweight wooden design, and are simpler and shorter than most cars at the Museum.


  • Car #52 is the first day car built for the Canadain Pacific Railway, which had just been incorporated in 1881. Although it will require substantial conservation and restoration, it shows how railcars do survive in spite of tremendous obstacles, and their present condition is a story in itself.
